Frequently Asked Questions..

What should I expect?
A fun and relaxed photo session! My style of photography is simple. I strive to capture natural expressions that reflect your personality. I use a combination of traditional posed shots and fun candid shots. I will not hurry you along and I will take as much time and as many pictures needed to ensure that you a good sampling of portraits to choose from.

What is the session fee for and when do I need to pay for it?
The session fee is for my time and talent, which includes the actual photo shoot and several more hours of post production, downloading and editing your images. The session fee is due at the time of service. You can pay by cash, check or credit card. There will be a $15.00 fee for any returned checks. Please make checks payable to Ivy's Photography.

How long will my photo session take?
A typical session can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours. I do not have a set amount of time or number of photos. I just shoot for as long as we need to get a variety of images to choose from.

Where will you take our pictures?
The location is completely up to you: in your home, your own backyard, a favorite park, or place special to you. The choice is yours. If you would like your portraits taken outdoors but do not have a location in mind, I do have some areas where I enjoy taking pictures. I also have a home studio that is available for individuals and small groups.

When is the best time of day to schedule an appointment?
In Studio: Any time
Outdoors: I like to work during the evening hours which allows for the best natural light. This is usually in the last 2 hours before the sun sets. Early morning can also be a great time to take pictures. An overcast sky provides the best lighting because the clouds act as a natural filter.  In case of inclement weather, I will be happy to reschedule your photo shoot.

What should we wear to our photo shoot?
I want your photos to reflect who you are. What you wear to your session is important to the look of your portraits. Dress for the season and location. Simple is always best. I also love the look of textures and layers. Neutral/earth tones are always good clothing combinations. Dark colors are more slimming. Short sleeves, low neck lines and light colors tend to add weight. If two or more people will be photographed, try to maintain the same tone and style in your wardrobe. It is great to coordinate but you do not need to necessarily match. Try to avoid large logos, prints and bold stripes as they tend to distract rather than enhance the portraits. Also, dress from head to toe, many poses will include your feet.

When will I be able to view my proofs?
I try to provide a reasonable turnaround for you to see your proofs. Within 2-3 weeks following your session you will be able to view approximately 30-60 images in your own personal online-password-protected gallery. This amount of time is needed to provide you with a variety of images to choose from. I will call or email you with the link and password. This is a great way to share your photos with family and friends. Your online gallery will be posted for 90 days after which time, a $25.00 re-posting fee will apply if you need more time to complete your order. I will keep images on file for one year for additional reprints at a later date.

Do you print the images yourself?
No. All prints are professional developed. Wall prints are luster coated for protection and mounted on styrene to prevent warping. Texture spray and canvas prints are also available upon request.

How can I order prints?
The easiest way to order prints is by contacting me by phone, text or via email.

Can I purchase a CD of my images?
Yes, I have digital packages available to purchase. The high resolution CD comes with all the proofs from your session. I highly recommend ordering your enlargements through me.

Why?
Because quality is a big deal to me. Since my name and reputation is associated with your images, I prefer to have control over the final prints, especially the images that will be hanging on your wall for everyone to see. I use a high quality professional lab where my monitor is calibrated with their printers. If you take your CD to a one hour type business, you could end up with color problems and poor quality prints. This reflects upon me and my work. Also, when you print your photos a certain cropping will occur. A 4x6 will crop differently than an 8x10 which results in some of your image being cropped off. If you have a specific size that you need, I can make sure that it is cropped correctly. I recommend purchasing a CD for smaller prints and for having a digital record of your images. I also offer a web resolution CD with limited use. This would include the rights to email to friends or family or post pictures online. All copyrights to the images are maintained by Ivy's Photography.

What if the pictures do not turn out how I expected?
My main goal is to meet the needs of my customers. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your pictures, I will be more than happy to re-take them free of charge.
